{Music Wednesday} Florence Welch – Sweet Nothing

At this point, I think we are all aware of how obsessed I am with Florence Welch. One of the biggest things I am looking forward to this winter is her new solo album, being released mid December. But until that time arrives, Flo has treated us with this little anthem, Sweet Nothing. I highly encourage you to check out the music video on YouTube, it’s quite stellar. This happy tune will pick you back up after a long day and you might even bust out some serious moves. Enjoy!

Glitter Jars

Over the weekend we  put on our semi science hats and made some glitter jars.  The idea behind them is that when you shake the jars the glitter floating is supposed to represent your thoughts.  As you watch the glitter settle, you should imagine all your mixed up thoughts settling and become less overwhelming.  Nice.  If you just want to shake because it’s pretty, that’s OK too.

To make our jars we mixed 1 cup corn syrup with 1 cup of hot water.  Stirred.  Then added glitter (we used 1 tsp each of 3 different hues of glitter).  Best part………  Shake and be fascinated.

Stack em up!

I had a pile of these in my room near a sofa when I lived in Germany.  I loved them and it was sad leaving them behind.  Was happy to see this great tutorial from Dobleufa.  One minor detail, it’s in Spanish.  However, her drawings and pics are so well detailed that it is relatively easy to figure out.  THis would be a fun class!

I want to get cracking and start myself a new pile here in the America!

True – 14 months (well kinda…)

OMG OMG OMG can not believe that I let myself get so far behind with the blog.  It was bit of work getting everything settled for the fall and we have been busy at the store setting up a new site, then there was getting offspring settled in school.  One, for the first year of official schooling (West in K) and the other (Tessa) ready for her last year in official schooling before she goes to legit higher education.

Still, very lame of me.  Beware, the lameness gets worse.  I  did take this picture when True was 14 months.  She is however, no longer really 14 months.  Let’s just not go into details about her real age.  So,  here are a couple of cute shots of the old gal.

Yup, 14 months…

Wait, let me just change something here…

Ooops, just gotta get the chalk in the right hand here

Tada! Is that better?
